Character Backstory:
Reducio
Margaret—or "Maisie" as she is known to her family and friends—comes from a middle class Glaswegian family from the Southside. No, magic cannot buy you wealth nor happiness. Joy is a uniquely creative force, as her mother would say. It was joy that brought a couple together that perhaps never should have been in the first place.
The Gemmells were a line of very ordinary Scottish muggles—until the arrival of her father, Callum's letter of admission to Hogwarts. There, he would later met and fall in love with a young woman, Althia, who came from a longstanding magical family. Althia showed him the world in a new way, which was both as awe-inspiring as it was terrifying. Upon leaving the school, Callum struggled to balance the world he knew with the one he'd discovered.
Despite this and initial disapproval from Althia's family, the couple became a family. Callum struggled as a writer for both magical and non-magical publications alike, not having very many connections in either field, but he remained steadfast in covering the breaking political news of the day. Althia, on the other hand, was quick to start an apprenticeship at one of the dress shops in Diagon Alley. Although she began as a simple seamstress, she has worked her way up as a designer and dressmaker. Most recently, she has dressed emerging magical and muggle bands and artists, especially in Glasgow's underground music scene.
Because of the way the family has always straddled the magical and muggle worlds, it should come as no surprise that they felt it important to raise their daughter with a knowledge of both (while maintaining the statute of secrecy). In fact, her very name is a representation of that philosophy. She is named after each of her grandmothers: Margaret on her father's (muggle) side and Astele on her mother's (magical) side.
Her childhood was largely uneventful—a happy, ordinary one. Perhaps the only difficulty was a lack of income compared to some of her peers, but it was never so low that she felt unsafe or uncared for. So, she took pleasure in activities she had access to, including sewing to help her mother. It was through sewing, she experienced her first sign of magic: levitating scissors after an emotional outburst while they were dressmaking together. Perhaps she has a little bit of a flair for the dramatic when called for.
Her father’s patience and journalistic skills come through in her academics, which she has always taken seriously. Her parents have high hopes this will continue at Hogwarts, even if the transition to a fully magical environment is a bit tricky. Maisie has always been one to let her curiosity lead her and this has been the key to her academic successes. Outside of this, she is both intuitive and assertive, unafraid to follow the beat of her own drum. She is looking forward to what joys her formal magical education might bring.
First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Maisie had been playing in her mother's studio. This was a common occurrence as the flat in the city was anything but large. Every once in while her mother might ask her opinion, not that she had a great sensibility art yet. And one day, she was quite opinionated on how a dress should look (after being agitated earlier) that when her mother disagreed, the scissors floated up on their own and cut off the hem abruptly. There could only be one culprit.

Emery Albrecht was a peculiar child, interested in the strange yet beautiful world above him and around him as well as the secrets the books in his home contained. His parents Lestat Albrecht and Amalia Albrecht née Wolfe were fellow curse breakers who met during an assignment many years ago. Their love was quickly formed yet burned brightly like Fiendfyre never to be quenched. They were married solely a year after they formed an acquaintance. They were intelligent to wait to have children and though they were married young, their love birthed Emery in 1980. Emery was a calm child, worrying his parents with his lack of crawling, but began walking at a normal age. He learned to read young, at the bright age of four and books consumed his every waking hour. He led a lonely life according to others, but he was focused and enraptured by the worlds the books displayed, and he had no desire to make friends his own age. Outsiders of the family would notice a strange distance between him and his parents. No one would ever see why, but there were secrets behind those house doors they lived within. He was sociable, but his focus was to learn, and learn he did with apt focus, and enraptured delight. Born in Germany, he was tutored to be a mature, intelligent, and independent young student, and as expected, he attended Durmstrang at the appropriate age. Magic was beautiful to him, not just spells to learn and to copy. He saw the creativity in it, and the emotional catharsis within it. He viewed it as an art, a painful one, but a living one, pouring out from a person's discipline and imagination. His unique view allowed him to prosper at school, allowing him to graduate with higher-than-average marks, and gave him the opportunity to pursue any career that he wished. He began his adult life as a student lawyer, devouring wizarding law and expanding his perspective. His great dedication and love for the subject allowed him to quickly obtain a position as a barrister. A few years after, hearing the perspectives of the oppressed in wizarding society, his goal in life shifted, he began to advocate for the half-breeds. Hoping to see different perspective on this subject, he changed career paths and pursued a position in non-human relations for the German wizarding government. Eventually, at age 32, he was pleased to obtain a position as one of the non-human ambassadors for his nation. Years passed, and soon he was itching for a new career, a bad quality of his being easy boredom and easy loss of empathy that he easily hid. He left his high position in the government and began to pursue academics and research. He began as a graduate student once more, researching into the field of curses, the dark arts, and the ancient role of runes. He spent years in the frenzy of study, pouring his adrenaline seeking nature into finding more and more information and forming unique ideas in this field of scholarship. He became a respected academic soon in this field in Germany at the age of 40. When a position opened up as a professor for Durmstrang, he was excited to return to his old school to form and be a part of the new generation of students. Although there was great competition, he was hired as the new professor of Rune Magic. He has spent the last few years dedicated to this role and he hopes that this will finally be the role that he is able to keep until he is too old to work.
First Instance of Magic: Emery Albrecht was quite young when his first display of magic was discovered. He was three and as a strangely intelligent young toddler, he had already begun to recognise the letters of the German alphabet and was always fascinated with the books on top of father's study room desk. One day, in a fit curiosity, he climbed on to the desk to try to grab a book with those special letters upon it. However, though his mind was quite developed for a three-year-old, his body was unfamiliar with such strenuous activity, and he soon slipped off the tall wooden desk with the book in hand. He fell to the ground, but the wooden floors of the study became soft under him, like pillows of feathers. He was uninjured and though his parents came rushing in with worry at the loud noise, all Emery was focused on was pointing at the letters that he could not understand, in the book in front of him.

Anthony is a half-blood, the only one child from his family, his Italian dad is a muggleborn and his British mother a pure-blood; the ones met in Italy and married there and soon moved to Bedford, England where they grow his son. Anthony's parents were passing on him the traditional Italian values, in particular the importance of the family and of the respect. Since he was a kid he has developed a passion for card games, the Neapolitan and French ones and he was used to bring a deck of both with him in his bag. He was sent to school even if the parents struggled financially for giving him the best school education. He always reasoned with his own mind and didn't stand under the imposed rules and teachers always told this to his parents from the kindergarten, he needs to work on that aspect. His parents wanted to wait for sharing to his son the truth about the wizarding story of the mother's bloodline, but as they soon expected his convocation to Hogwarts, they thought the best was let him know the magician power he has in the DNA and how to control it. He was excited about discovering the story. A windy evening an owl posed on the balcuny with a letter: it was the invitation from the wizarding school. The family helped him preparing a suitcase and went shopping the necessary before escorting Anthony to the station and greeting him.

When he was a kid, a sunny day, he got punished for not doing homework at school by his parents and they didn't let him leave the house, so he had to recover what he didn't do as punishment. It was early in the afternoon, his parents went shopping, he was impatient and didn't accept the whole situation and a strange phenomenon occurred meanwhile he was complaining about doing his homework: Anthony's desk started trembling and the book he had in front of him started lievitating until it started burning and became ashes.

Character Backstory: Physical Description: My character is a female with blonde-brown hair, she is wearing Her Slytherin robes. (In the picture, she is holding her home-pet owl) My character has gray eyes and has no horns, tails, or anything unusual. She was born a wizard.
She wrote that she lives in Sterling Heights, England but that is not true. She was born in Sterling Heights, Michigan but at age 4 she moved to London. Because she misses America, she tells everyone she lives in Sterling Heights, England. (So the city she was born in, and the country she lives in now)

Date of Birth for my Character: July 1st, 2013
(Real date of Birth): January 13, 2011
Weight: 79 pounds
Height: 4.8 foot
Build: Skinny
Species: Human
Mental Description: My character is a good person, and loves to spend time with her family and friends. She loves to learn and is willing to read an extra book or two in her free time.
Biography: My character's family have all been to Hogwarts except her younger brother who is only 7 years old. My character loves spending time with her younger brother, almost never gets into any arguments with him, and helps him with homework. (Her brother's name is Oscar) She only has one friend who is a witch/wizard. (Her name is Mia) Mia is a year older than my character and has been in Hogwarts for a whole year now! The two love spending time together. Their favorite activity together is writing letters in morse code, they are bother experts at that!
First Instance of Magic: A week before her 11th birthday, my character was out playing with her friends (Nina, Victoria, and Cora) in the park when a group of older boys walk up to them and start teasing them because the girls were playing a childish game of hide-and-go-seek. The girls were very confused on why these boys decided to pick on them. My character started walking backwards but tripped over a bottle, splashing the boys. The bottle was half empty but somehow the boys ended up soaking wet. "How was there so much water in that bottle enough to wet all the boys?" She wondered. Willing to learn more, she read so many books about water, but still found no answers.

Before getting her letter to Hogwarts, Amira was living a fairly normal life in London
with her parents, David and Brielle, and her sister, Luna, as well as their family dog, Daisy.
Her father is not magic but her mother attended Hogwarts and would've worked in
the magic world but met David and fell in love and eventually had the two children.
She spent a lot of time with her family and her little group of friends from school.
She often participated in choir and plays with them and really enjoyed being on stage.
When she wasn't doing those activities she would enjoy time by herself drawing in
her room or writing in her journal.
Amira is a sweet and caring kid. She is pretty hard working and smart and tends to be
competitive and a bit of a perfectionist. With her friends she can be sarcastic but is playful
and loves to play jokes. She is creative and loves drawing and writing as well as singing and acting, all of which she did a lot of in her daily life before coming to Hogwarts. She doesn't like mess and is very organized. She is pretty patient and kind but also can be a little indecisive and tends to be more of a people pleaser, wanting to make everyone happy.
First Instance of Magic:

When Amira was 9 she was drawing in her room one day and her sister Luna came in
and had accidentally messed up the drawing she was working on. Without realizing what
she was doing, she sent the papers flying into the air. Amira and Luna watched as the papers
flew around over their heads and called their parents in. Amira's mother had to sit down
and explain about the magic she just did and that she would be able to attend Hogwarts
in a few years and learn even more magic.

Sammy's father Luther Tickner is a pureblood wizard who currently works as an arithmancer, while his mother Whitney White is a muggle who teaches secondary. They met and married when they were both very young, but unfortunately the difference in their backgrounds clashed, and they divorced when Sammy turned 5. They split custody, with Sam spending weekends and holidays with his father and the rest of the week with his mother.
He isn't very close with his father, as they have quite limited time with each other; and the Tickner lineage doesn't exactly approve of Sammy's existence, making for very awkward family dinners. He (guiltily) feels a small glimmer of resentment towards his dad for having to miss out on holidays with his mum, and for how little magic Luther ever taught him which left him less prepared and knowledgeable about the wizarding world than he would've liked.
On the other hand, his relationship with his mother is the complete opposite. She's also a curious, creative type; and they have had many easy bonding moments. Though she was nervous when Sam was revealed to be a wizard, they still remained close and she never made him feel ashamed or scared about his magic.
He went to an average primary school and overall led a very muggle-like life, managing to keep his double-life with his father a secret (or anyone he told brushing it off as his 'big imagination'). During his years in muggle school; he gained a tight-knit friend group (Thomas, Charlie, and Stella) that he would constantly hangout with, his mother's house being the designated hangout spot.
Sammy originally did not actually want to go Hogwarts, as it meant leaving all his friends and his school behind; and despite being intrigued at the idea of doing magic, he feels intimidated about the expectations and pressure of the wizarding world. However, his mother insisted that he go so he can 'connect with 'his' society'. As far as Sammy is concerned, he fits into muggle society just fine; but has decided to stay optimistic and open-minded about going to Hogwarts.
First Instance of Magic
Reducio
When Sammy was nine in year 5 of primary, he had pulled an all-nighter working on a personal art project, neglecting to care about the test the following day. During the exam, he began to feel incredibly sleepy, and after he was about three-quarters of the way done, he nodded off, out cold until the teacher woke him up at the end of class.
But, to his surprise, the rest of the bubble sheet was completely filled out, and he handed it in while quite bewildered. When the results were returned a week later, it became clear that it was filled out at random and most of the answers were wrong, but his father confirmed that it was likely magic regardless.
"Real ones don't study and pass the tests anyway."

First intance of magic
Reducio
Jennifer's first instance of accidental magic happened when she was around six years old. They were playing outside and Adam broke a small flower pot.As the pot shattered on the ground, Jennifer felt a sudden rush of emotion—perhaps a mix of surprise and concern for her brother. In that moment, with a wave of her hand, the pieces of the broken pot flew back together, miraculously mending themselves. The flowers, which had spilled out, sprang back into the pot as if they were being pulled by an unseen force. She rushed to tell her parents, and her mother already knew what was up.
